Become a Phoenix Scholar

The 2020-2021 Cohort Application is now OPEN!
Due March 6, 2020

APPLY HERE
High school juniors and students who plan to graduate from high school in the 2020-2021 school year are welcome to apply when applications open. Accepted applicants typically identify with two of the three following criteria:
  1. Low-income (student qualifies for free/reduced lunch)
  2. First generation (student's parent(s)/guardian(s) did not receive a degree from an American degree granting four-year college or university)
  3. Minority (student identifies as Hispanic/Latino, Black/African American, Asian, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, and/or American Indian or Alaskan Native)
Students who don't identify with two of the above criteria are encouraged to still apply! We aim to help as many students as possible within our capacity. We also require that students who apply have demonstrated academic interest by maintaining a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.7 or higher.

Two important documents to have for your application
  1. Updated High School Transcript
  2. PSAT and/or PLAN Score report

The Phoenix Scholars will also be awarding scholarships to a a number of incoming scholars for SAT/ACT prep and College Application fee waivers. If you would like to be considered for these two awards, (if you are accepted), please complete the additional two essay questions.

Note: We recommend writing your essay responses in a separate document so that you can edit them before submission without fear of the page refreshing or computer crashing and losing all of your valuable content.

Optional, but recommended: Please have a teacher, counselor, coach, or community leader email a letter of recommendation to [email protected].

Feel free to email us at [email protected] with any questions/concerns about the application.
